Last Friday I met with Stagecoach for an update on services locally.
Stagecoach have kept us updated throughout the last few months and it is good to see that progress has been made in all areas of concern.
Last week the company reported a 98 per cent reliability rate. While we still have some small issues to iron out in Caerphilly particularly, we are seeing a huge improvement compared to what we were seeing six months ago. This is reflected in my own inbox, where I have seen a vast reduction in complaints about buses.
While bus services are still adapting to the 20mph changes across Wales, Stagecoach assured us that safety is paramount and drivers continue to comply with new and existing speed limits. Extra time is being added for journeys, but I would ask you to please be patient with drivers while the system adjusts.
I intend to hold a bus surgery in the new year and I will share more about that to my Facebook page, closer to the time.
I will also be meeting with Transport for Wales in mid-November, where I can raise any issues relating to train services that you would like me to raise on your behalf.
I know there were lots of complaints from residents who were experiencing noise disturbance from rail work over the summer.
Although the work (as part of the new South Wales Metro) will continue in to the new year, the noisiest works should be coming to an end around now.
I will also be speaking on a debate in the Senedd on Wednesday, which will be on Transport for Wales. If you would like to watch my contribution, you can do so here live, or at a later date: Senedd.tv
As always, please get in touch if I can help with anything.
