ACOUSTIC pop duo Lilygreen and Maguire are splitting up, it has been announced.

Singer/songwriters Jon Maguire from Blackwood and Jon Lilygreen from Bettws have seen success since meeting on a night out in Newport city centre four years ago.

But after tours with Scouting for Girls, Westlife and Olly Murs, the duo called it a day online yesterday after labelling 2013 a “tough year”.

On their Facebook page, Mr Maguire said: “I know a lot of you have been hearing rumours that we are no longer pursuing Lilygreen and Maguire. Unfortunately, the rumours are true.

“I’m not really sure what to say, 2013 has been a tough year. We were living in different places and had no label or anbody else helping us out. It’s nobody’s fault and there’s been no arguments, or falling outs.

“Like anything in life, it’s just taken it’s course.”
