A BODY was found in the Wye river in Chepstow earlier this evening, according to police.

Duty inspector Huw Jones, in the Gwent Police control room, told the Argus that officers had located a body in the river in the Chepstow area near the Wye Bridge at around 7pm on Friday.

He said they are currently making inquiries regards the person’s identity.

The inspector added: “We are investigating the circumstances surrounding it at the moment.”
