A TRIBUTE album made by friends of a much-loved Chepstow landlady who died earlier this year will be officially launched on Friday.
Keen musician Alison Beasley ran The White Lion/Pye Corner, grew up in Bulwark and attended Chepstow School. The Electric Landlady CD will be unveiled at the Severn Bridge Social Club in Bulwark.
All monies will go to the St David’s Hospice charity, which cared for Ms Beasley at the end of her life.
After Ms Beasley died in March, friends wrote original songs that have been recorded in her friend Paul Hobday’s home recording studio in Chepstow. One was donated by another of Ms Beasley’s friends, Yes and Asia keyboardist Geoff Downes.
Her friend Lucy Fear, who has helped with the project, said: “All our hard work is coming to a head. We are all quite nervous but we are really, really excited about it. The standard of work on the album is just superb. We have already had people reserve copies.”
Ms Beasley also managed The King’s Head, The Five Alls and The Three Tuns with her brother Gerv Durran.
Her fiancé Aston Hanington has helped out with the record, as has her former band mate in Soul-d as Seen, Karen Ivins, and childhood friend Kath McRoberts.
A special jam night held in October in Ms Beasley’s memory to raise funds for the hospice collected over £2,300 at the Pye Corner pub.
And as part of the deal to buy the CD, buyers can use a code to download those tracks and a further ten for free. The Facebook page is http://on.fb.me/1kPhcAR.
