MOHAMMED Asghar has been presented with an award for community service by the Muslim Council of Wales.
The award was presented to the Assembly member for South Wales East, at a dinner in Cardiff last Wednesday celebrating UN World Interfaith Harmony Week.
Conservative AM Mohammad Asghar said: “I am very grateful to the Muslim Council of Wales for presenting me with an award for community service.”
“It is a great honour to receive this recognition and I will continue to work to improve relations between people of all faiths and communities in Wales.”
Attending the ceremony were people from other faiths including Chief Rabbi Mirvis Ephraim. The Muslim Council of Wales was founded in 2003, as an affiliate to the Muslim Council of Britain.
It is an partnership between mosques and Muslim institutions in Wales aiming to promote community relations, prevent discrimination and present an Islamic perspective on issues which are important to Wales.
