AN elderly Cwmbran man who was found dead in a field was concerned he had become a burden on his family, an inquest heard.
Charles John Graham Evans, aged 76, had been prescribed medication for his depression, which he had suffered from following failure to fully recover from a heart bypass, Gwent Coroners Court heard earlier today.
The court heard he had become “anxious” due to his ill-health, but had never threatened to take his own life.
Mr Evans’ body was found in the 'circus field' opposite the road leading to Gwent Crematorium at Croesyceiliog on June 27 last year.
A post mortem examination showed Mr Evans died as a result of blood loss due to incised wound to the wrist.
Gwent chief coroner David Bowen, sitting in Newport, said: “From the evidence I’ve heard, I’m sure that your father was concerned that he had become a burden on his family.”
Verdict: killed himself whilst depressed.
