THOUSANDS enjoyed some tasty treats, live music and dancing at the second annual Bassaleg Food Festival at the weekend.
The event on Saturday, April 16 saw thousands of people flock to the Graig Community Hall in Caerphilly Road and the nearby Ruperra Arms to enjoy a host of stalls, live music and dancing.
The festival was founded by Ruperra Arms head chef Steve White and the Newport Folk Club and was held for the first time last year.
Although the day started off cool and grey, the sun soon came out as visitors enjoyed performances by a range of folk artists and dance troupes while sampling wares from around 30 stalls from across Cardiff, Caerphilly and Port Talbot.
The event also raised money for St David’s Hospice, with £25 per stall holder donated to the charity by the festival organisers.
