AN Ebbw Vale tanning shop was burnt to the ground in a fire late last night.
Shop Lextan, at Ebbw Vale's the Walk shopping centre, was "well alight" when crews arrived at the scene at just after 10.30pm on Wednesday night.
Gwent Police have issued an appeal for information and are treating it as deliberate.
A police spokeswoman said: "Fortunately no one was harmed but extensive damage was caused."
At its height 20 firefighters were tackling the fire with crews from Ebbw Vale and Tredegar calling for back up from Brynmawr and Rhymney.
A spokeswoman for the fire service told the Argus the four crews were on the scene until the fire was out at 11.14pm. The stop message came in at 12.06am.
The fire service stayed at the scene overnight and firefighters were called back at 5.30am when flames were seen coming from the roof.
It is not yet known what caused the fire at the single storey shop. Final investigations will be carried out this morning to find out if the fire was deliberate or accidental.
The four crews used two jets, two hosereels, breathing apparatus, ventilating fans and a water bowser from Aberbargoed.
At 6.25am this morning a spokeswoman for the fire service said firefighters have now left the scene.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting log 578 15/06/16.
