ALMOST 50 tonnes of rubbish was destroyed by fire this morning at Newport industrial estate.
A fire crew from Maindee were called at 1.30am to reports of a fire in Felnex Industrial Estate, Newport.
A South Wales Fire and Rescue spokeswoman confirmed that the “deep seated fire” involved around 50 tonnes of rubbish.
The crew extinguished the fire and made the scene safe by around 8.31am.
Fire services remain at the scene this morning and a ground monitor and mechanical digger are being used to disperse the debris.
