A RISCA musician has released a new single and music video set in a 1980s, sci-fi version of his hometown.
Jonathan Evans, 28, known by his stage name Fan Octo, launched the single Risca ‘84 last week after taking only two months to complete the project.
The synth rock song and video is a part of his next EP which will be released in June 2017 along with a host of new songs and videos which further explore the Risca alternate universe.
Mr Evans said his work is inspired by 1980s music and films such as Blade Runner and Terminator.
Since graduating with a music production degree from the University of Central Lancashire last year, Mr Evans has been producing his own music and videos all of which are his own take on the unusual sci-fi metal genre.
“I really make music for myself, I like locking myself away in the studio and if people want to enjoy it by themselves or with others then that’s even better,” Mr Evans said.
The latest concept transports listeners to a comic style world where citizens of the 1980s mega city are being controlled by violent gangs and evil insurgents who are wreaking havoc, however, a group of anti-heroes is on hand to save the day and restore peace to Risca.
The artist enlisted the help of his friends to star in the video and help with its production.
“The entire process of this project from start to finish was great fun,” he said.
“There were challenging times and I was certainly pushed in my capabilities, however, it was a very valuable experience and has given me a better understanding and mindset for the next project which is already underway, exploring further the Risca ‘84 universe.”
The single Risca ‘84 is now available via the musicians Youtube, Facebook, Bandcamp and Instagram pages.
