FIREFIGHTERS are still at Stow Hill following a major fire last night.

Stow Hill and North Street remain cordoned off following a blaze in the old Zanzibar nightclub and the Bethel Community Church.

There are currently 11 fire engines and 15 support vehicles at the scene.

A firefighter said: "We received a call at 7.30pm last night.

"We are now in the process of dampening down the building.

"There are still some hot spots."
