THE JURY in the trial of a man accused of murdering his alleged victim by luring him to his flat, tying his hands behind his back and shoving a sock into his mouth has retired to consider its verdict.
Paul Paget, 54, of Brynderwen Road, Newport, has admitted his actions caused Anthony Bubbins’ death in January but he denies murder.
Prosecutor Caroline Rees QC has told the jury at Newport Crown Court that the defendant killed the 57-year-old “hoarder” so that he could steal coins and ornaments from his home.
Paget said he confronted the alleged victim in the minutes leading up to his death about a claim he had sexually abused a close friend.
Proceeding.
