RESIDENTS are being invited to help decide on additions to the Chartist trail in Newport.
This will be funded by a successful Heritage Lottery bid.
The trail - which follows the chartists’ footsteps from Newport Museum to John Frost Square - is to be decorated with pavement roundels.
Newly-formed organisation Our Chartist Heritage (OCH) has given the people of Gwent until July 3 to vote for their favourite design.
They are:
ROUNDEL A: Based on the original design of the chartist membership card
ROUNDEL B: Based on a ballot box
ROUNDEL C: Based on weapons crossed on the Newport crest.
The winning design will be made into bilingual roundels by Ned Heywood, the former mayor of Chepstow, who started producing ceramics in 1973.
OCH chairman Pat Drewett added: “Newport has a unique heritage and it’s crucial to know the future of Newport from the past.
“The chartist values of truth and justice, which they fought for, are so important in today’s world.”

Alternatively, there are ballot boxes at Newport Market. They can be found in the central aisle near Tia Julia.
The winning design will be announced on July 4 to coincide with National Democracy Week.
