PICTURES have emerged of the burned-out wreckage of a lorry which caught fire on the A449 on Wednesday morning (July 18).
The lorry, towing a trailer belonging to haulage company TNT, was completely destroyed in the fire.
A spokesperson for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said fire engines were called to the incident, on the A449 southbound near Coldra, at around 3am.
Both carriageways were closed while fire crews tackled the blaze.
The northbound road was re-opened at around 6am, with all southbound lanes cleared by 11.45am.
The burned-out hull of the lorry was towed away by vehicle recovery firm Chris Spiteri and Son.
