THE deadline for nominations for this year’s South Wales Argus Sports Awards has been extended.
You now have until midnight on Sunday to nominate your individuals, teams and clubs for the host of prizes on offer.
The winners of the 14 awards up for grabs will be revealed at a ceremony hosted by Chepstow Racecourse on Wednesday, May 22.
Newport County AFC manager Michael Flynn walked away from the first South Wales Argus Sports Awards in 2018 as sports personality of the year.
Others honoured included taekwondo ace Ben Meyrick, the young sports personality of the year, and Bethany Paull, who scooped the disability sports performer of the year gong.
Valleys Gymnastics Academy and Pontypool United RFC were also award winners on the night, as were Elliot Dee and Ben White, Dragons and County players of the year respectively.

“This year’s awards are in association with Chepstow Racing & Events and we are setting out to recognise the true heroes of local sport and to create an event which will be one of the main highlights of the sporting calendar locally,” said Hussain Bayoomi, managing director of the South Wales Argus.
“Local sport is the glue that holds our communities together, providing a foundation for health, fitness and team work. A place to identify sporting stars of the future."
