Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Giovanni Pernice has been forced to cancel two shows at Cardiff's St David's Hall scheduled for 2024.

Pernice was forced to withdraw from Strictly 2023 after his celebrity partner Amanda Abbington revealed on Monday (October 23) she was quitting the show.

On an episode of Strictly: It Takes Two today (Monday, October 23) presenter Fleur East briefly shared a statement given by the show.

The statement said: "Amanda Abbington is unable to continue in Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition.

"The show wishes her all the best for the future".

Pernice took to social media following the news issuing a tribute to Abbington.

On Instagram, with a picture of the pair in Christmas pyjamas, he said: "Amanda .. I am so sad we can’t continue but I am proud of what we achieved and I am sending you so much love (love heart emoji) @amanda_abbington74 @bbcstrictly."

Strictly Professional Giovanni Pernice forced to cancel Cardiff shows

The news he is out of Strictly comes just days after Pernice was forced to cancel two shows at Cardiff's St David's Hall that were scheduled for 2024.

The Strictly professional was set to bring his Let Me Entertain You Tour to Cardiff on Wednesday, January 2024.

He was also set to appear at St David's Hall with Strictly judge Anton Du Beke in Anton and Giovanni Together - The Live Tour on Sunday, June 30.

But both shows were cancelled after Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) was found in the building and it was forced to shut.

St David's Hall will be closed for 18 months after Cardiff Council revealed the roof would need to be completely replaced.

All shows scheduled at St David's Hall up until June 2024 have so far been cancelled, postponed, rescheduled or had its venue changed.

The hall's website, on Giovanni Pernice Let Me Entertain You Live Tour page, reads: "St David’s Hall will be closed until the new year to undertake additional checks on the Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) panels in the building.

"Unfortunately, the Giovanni Pernice event on Wednesday 24 January 2024 has now been cancelled.

"For ticket refunds, please contact your point of purchase. For tickets bought at St David's Hall - if you have paid by debit/credit cards, we will automatically refund you.

"Please note we are dealing with vast amount of customers and will do our best to get to everyone as soon as possible.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

For those that haven't booked through St David's Hall the website suggests calling the Box Office on 02920 878444 for more information on your refund.
