FORTY five parliamentary candidates are competing for your votes in Gwent seats in the May 6 General Election.

They include assistant film director Steve Millson, of the Green Party, for Monmouth, who has worked with famous directors such as Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg and Tim Burton; and publican Paul Taylor, who runs The Rock Country Inn and Restaurant, Blackwood, standing as an Independent.

Candidate Nominations closed at 4pm on Tuesday (APRIL 20) and revealed many elected as MPs in 2005 are standing again.

They include Blaenau Gwent’s People’s Voice candidate Dai Davies, Labour’s Jessica Morden for Newport East and Paul Flynn for Labour in Newport West.

Labour’s Paul Murphy hopes to retain Torfaen and Welsh Conservative candidate David Davies, will also stand again for Monmouth.
