EIGHT men have been arrested so far, as Gwent Police continues to monitor social media and networking sites following the English riots.
A 25-year-old Newport man was arrested overnight on Friday on suspicion of intentionally encouraging or assisting the commission of a burglary and bailed on Saturday pending further enquiries.
Since Friday, officers have also arrested two 20-year-old Newport men, an 18-year-old man from the Gwent area and a 26-year-old Ebbw Vale man on suspicion of intentionally encouraging or assisting the commission of a public order offence, who were all bailed.
The arrests bring the total number of people questioned in connection with potential unrest to eight.
Earlier this week, a 31-year-old Newport man and a 25-year-old Chepstow man were arrested on suspicion of intentionally encouraging or assisting the commission of a public order offence and bailed. A 27-year-old Ebbw Vale man was arrested and cautioned for sending a malicious communication by public communication network.
