A GIPSY camp that has set up on a site set to become the home of a Newport football team should leave this week, Newport council said.
Reports have emerged that an unauthorised Gipsy camp has been established at Blackash Park, which is due to become the new home of Lliswerry AFC.
A council spokeswoman said officers have visited the site and the temporary residents have indicated they intend to leave this week.
No sports clubs are currently using the park for matches or training, the council spokeswoman said.
She added the camp is not interfering with a project to install a new changing room in the park.
A Newport council committee is currently conducting a review of areas suitable for gipsy and traveller sites in the city.
