After a summer in the constituency, it’s back to Parliament where the new government is working at pace to deliver on our manifesto promises and to clean up the mess left by the Conservative government.

Constituents, groups, and schools are welcome to visit Parliament for tours and to watch the proceedings in the Chamber. If you’d like to visit, please get in touch with my office using the details below, and we’ll provide you with all the information you need.

Speaking of groups in the community doing great things, I thoroughly enjoyed this year’s Pride in the Port, which was a real celebration. It was great to be part of the parade, see some performances on High Street, and speak to stallholders and stakeholders at the Pride market.

As we move closer to Christmas, there’s so much in the diary in the city centre and across Newport. I’m very much looking forward to the Full Colour Maindee Festival at the end of this month, the Newport Food Festival in October, and the Newport Rising events in early November. Thank you to everyone across our city who works so hard to make these events happen.

This month in Parliament, the new Secretary of State for Business and Trade announced the details of a new deal between Tata Steel and the government, which goes some way towards ensuring a fairer transition to green steel.

I asked him about the plan for the future of Llanwern, highlighting the world-class automotive steel made here in Newport East. You can read more about this on my website or see my contributions by heading to my YouTube channel.

Since the election, I have had the chance to meet lots of businesses in the constituency, such as Sims Metal and The Alacrity Foundation. If you’d like me to visit your business, please get in touch, I’d love to hear from you.

Throughout the next few months, my office and I will be holding a number of casework drop-ins, advice surgeries, and benefits and pensions surgeries. If you’d like to raise anything with me—be it concerns about the cost of living, policing, transport, anti-social behaviour, or immigration—and would like to book an appointment, please do get in touch.

To raise an issue with me, or to book an appointment you can get in touch via the following methods: T: 01633 841725; E: jessica.morden.mp@parliament.uk
