THE Doctor Who cast and crew, including David Tennant and Matt Smith, were filming for the 50th anniversary show at Chepstow Castle this week.
Eyewitnesses reported the adjacent car park was packed with lorries and big cars as the celebrities descended on the oldest surviving post-Roman stone fortification in Britain, dating back to 1067.
The castle remained open to visitors while filming took place on Wednesday, but people could get close enough to take pictures, as seen above. One observer, who didn’t want to be named, said: “It was exciting.
There was a big crowd of people.”
Last month, the BBC confirmed that David Tennant and Billie Piper would appear in the 50th anniversary special, along with John Hurt, Matt Smith and his new assistant, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman.
The first episode of Doctor Who, An Unearthly Child, starring William Hartnell as the Timelord, was broadcast on November 23, 1963.
Fifty years on, it is due to air on the same date this year.
