A NEWPORT County AFC XI drew 0-0 at Penybont in a pre-season friendly at the Welsh League Division One side’s Kymco Stadium tonight.
With the first team having played in a behind-closed-doors match at Swansea City this afternoon, youth team coach Danny Elliott was in charge.
But manager Michael Flynn and his assistant Wayne Hatswell were watching from the sidelines as a team containing youngsters Momodou Touray, Tom Hillman, Owen Taylor and Callum Beckett alongside seven trialists was held to a draw.
Marcus Griffiths hit the post early on for the hosts and the trialist goalkeeper saved well from Luke Borrelli and Griffiths again.
Lewis Collins, who played for 15 minutes in the 1-0 defeat at Swansea, came on at half-time in Bridgend and saw a shot superbly saved on the hour.
Liam Bishop, Dom Jeffries and Lucas Murray also came on later in the half.
One of the unnamed trialists then hit the post and another hit the bar as the Exiles peppered the home goal without success.
