BRISTOL City have announced that their midfielder Tyreeq Bakinson has joined Newport County AFC on loan.
Bakinson began his career at Luton Town, making six appearances for the Hatters before joining City for an undisclosed fee in August 2017.
Robins boss Lee Johnson is a big fan of the 19-year-old and has compared him to the club’s former midfielder Marvin Elliott, who won nine caps for Jamaica.
Speaking after handing Bakinson his first-team debut in the Carabao Cup last season, Johnson told the Bristol Post: "He's a central midfielder. How would I describe him? He's a bit like a Marvin Elliott with a bit more technical quality.
"He gets across the ground very, very well. He's a good size. Listen, he's young, he's got a million things to work on and I don't think he gave the ball away. He was neat and tidy.
"Tactically we probably have to do some work with him but the raw ingredients and the frame is there for him to be anything he wants.”
💬 "This will be hugely beneficial for them to get first-team exposure that will help them and #BristolCity down the line" - @tinnion_brian.

Bakinson has been part of the Championship club’s first-team set-up during pre-season including a trip to Marbella last week.
But he has also been training with County for the past few weeks and he played in the Exiles’ pre-season friendlies at Swansea City and Hereford.
Bakinson joins his Robins teammate Antoine Semenyo at Rodney Parade, with the club stating that both will return to Bristol in January.
City loan manager Brian Tinnion said: “We had 23 players go out on loan last season and we know how valuable those experiences were.
“This will be hugely beneficial for them to get first-team exposure that will help them and City down the line."
