LOOSEHEAD prop Luke Garrett believes a reunion with former Dragons boss Lyn Jones will fuel his hopes of a return to professional rugby when he swaps Rodney Parade for the Gnoll next season.
The 23-year-old from Tredegar, who is a member of the 26-man squad for the Italian double-header with Benetton and Zebre in the Guinness PRO14, will head for Neath in the Principality Premiership when his contract runs out this summer.
Garrett has made 14 appearances for the Dragons since making his debut against the Scarlets at Judgement Day in 2015.
The prop had a spell on loan in Llanelli last season and helped the west Walians to become PRO12 champions.
Garrett follows Dragons lock Scott Andrews in agreeing a deal to work again under former Rodney Parade supremo Lyn Jones in Neath.
“I still think I’m young at 23 for a prop so I’d like to get back into professional rugby and Lyn is such an infectious character and motivator I know he’ll get the best out of me,” he said.
“I know I’m only going to achieve this if I can get back playing to my best and get Neath winning again. “I’d like to thank the Dragons for the last five years which have been a great experience and where I’ve made some brilliant friends, but I’m really looking forward to this new challenge and new chapter with Neath.”
