Swindon may not be on your first choice of weekend breaks but the town off the M4 has a lot to offer visitors.
And just in time for Christmas, the newly refurbished Swindon Marriott has teamed up with the Swindon Designer Outlet to offer a bargain package.
The hotel has had £1.1m spent on it and it shows, from the moment you step into the modern reception area to one of the 156 bedrooms.
We stayed in a superior suite which along with an ensuite bathroom, air-conditioning, and LCD TVs, they offer a kingsize super comfortable bed, a sofa and complimentary bathrobe and slippers.
The comprehensive movie package in the rooms will keep everyone entertained and there is wifi available in all rooms – although this does cost extra.
Our full board package came with a great buffet breakfast with all choices covered from a full English across to a more health conscious fruit and muesli option.
For dinner you can eat in one of two restaurants. The more casual bar menu in Chats Bar or the slightly formal Source Grill for some excellent dishes including a classic sirloin steak with fries through to sea bream.
The rooms come with 24 hour room service if you don’t feel sociable.
There is also a fully equipped leisure centre downstairs with pool gym, sauna and steam room and hot tub.
Your stay includes 10 per cent discount at the Swindon Designer Outlet just a few minutes away.
The outlet has more than 90 leading brands including , Polo Ralph’s Lauren, Ted Baker, Foot Locker, Gap and more.
There are plenty of restaurants to cater for all tastes like Harry Ramsden’s, Starbucks and Ed’s Easy Diner burger bar.
The centre is having£35m spent on it this year which will add space for another 30 shops so there will be no shortage of ideas for Christmas presents.
With savings of up to 60 per cent at the outlet as well the weekend visit could prove extremely good to your wallet too.
Packages start at £69
