AFTER a sell-out performance in May 2011 Chantel McGregor returns to Beaufort Theatre & Ballroom, Ebbw Vale tonorrow.
Chantel began her musical career at the tender age of three playing on an acoustic guitar before graduating to electric at seven and by the age of twelve she began taking part in sessions at the Melborn Hotel in Bradford.
Chantel’s accolades in her field are outstanding; she became the youngest person to gain a Rockschool grade, an establishment set up to provide a classical grading system for contemporary musicians.
She is now qualified at Grade Eight and received 18 distinctions at Leeds College of music becoming the first person in the college’s history to receive 100 per cent in her exams.
Despite all her achievements, to properly experience her talent Chantel needs to be seen live, playing as the rock/blues band The Chantel McGregor Band she has toured extensively delivering her raw sound all over the country.
Her sets include an array of guitar classics including Jimi Hendrix and Led Zepplin in addition to her own work.
Chantel was voted Young Artist of the Year in the British Blues Awards 2011 and has been nominated Best Female Vocalist in the BBA’s 2012 Chantel McGregor wowed the crowds at Abertillery Blues Festival 2010 where she come out as one of the favourites of the whole weekend.
Chantel will be supported by Albany Down, an original blues rock band based north of London. A re-imagining of the classic rock master melodies of yesteryear, Albany Down take the raw, gritty and unpretentious nuances of a wonderful period in rock and roll history, and transform it into something really ‘now’; something very special for the digitaldownload generation, and something for their sons, daughters and parents too.
