Multi Brit award winning Alison Balsom marks her most ambitious year yet recording a new album with acclaimed jazz producer Guy Barker and embarks on her first ever headline UK tour which brings her to Cardiff's St David's Hall on October 5.
As one of the most highly regarded trumpeters and innovative classical musicians of a generation, Balsom has spent the last decade performing in the world’s most prestigious venues and this year will see Alison releasing her most ambitious album yet, shortly ahead of taking this groundbreaking programme on tour around the UK.
The tour will include repertoire from Balsom’s much anticipated new album, Paris, which she has co-produced, scheduled for release on 8th September 2014 on Warner Classics and is set to include new interpretations of the beautiful songs Autumn Leaves and April in Paris.
Her production of Gabriel with The English Concert at Shakespeare's Globe last summer left theatre critics smitten, and this major UK tour is the next adventure for Alison in bringing the voice of the trumpet to an ever-wider audience.
Of her forthcoming tour Alison says " To be going out on the road, presenting a show which goes from Bach to Gershwin is an absolute thrill. Over the past few weeks, I have been working with Guy Barker on the new album fusing the worlds of classical and jazz which has been an extraordinary creative process. Some of the songs such as Autumn Leaves and April in Paris have really taken me to a new place and so I cannot wait to take some of the songs from the album on tour".
