LEADING Welsh folk band Allan Yn Y Fan are delighted (thanks to the support of Arts Council Of Wales ‘A Night Out’ scheme) to be performing a joint concert with Scotland’s leading folk song group Malinky on Thursday June 9 in Newbridge Memo.
Unveiling a new sextet last year, Allan Yn Y Fan undertook another successful tour of Germany along with performing at a number of the UK’s prestigious folk festivals. Following work on their 6th album, Allan Yn Y Fan are looking forward to returning to the stage in their home country in June.
Scottish folk group Malinky has, for the past 15 years been the leading group focusing on traditional Scots song. With four acclaimed albums under their belt and an extensive tour roster across the globe, Malinky has become one of the most distinctive and accomplished bands on the Scottish folk scene. Receiving 5* ratings for their 2015 album “Far Better Days”, which was hailed by R2 Magazine as “magnificent…a master class in arrangement…another great release from one of Scotland’s finest”, Malinky emerge refreshed and renewed ahead of their two date tour with Allan Yn Y Fan.
These two concerts give audiences in Newbridge a rare opportunity to catch two flag bearers of the best in traditional music for their two nations.
