UNDERGROUND punk heroes The Mekons visit Cardiff Bay's The Point next month.
Taking their name from the Dan Dare comic, they first emerged from Leeds in the late 1970s.
Bewildering and exciting, they built up a loyal hardcore fan base until they all but disappeared from obscurity.
Until 1985's Fear And Whiskey that was. This ragged country album completely re-invented the band and began their second coming.
They gained a new alternative audience who'd missed them the first time around.
Subsequent albums took in wise-ass folk-rock, cranked-up guitar rock and more trouble-making punk.
The Mekons, plus special guests, play at The Point on Wednesday, February 20, at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £12 in advance or £14 on the door and are available through Spillers Records (02920 224905/www.spillersrecords.co.uk), Ticketline (02920 230130/www.ticketline.co.uk) and The Point (02920 460873/www.thepointcardiffbay.com).
