THE Clay are an up-and-coming young three-piece band from Newport who release their first record What They Told You on the prestigious 1965 records next month.
After recording their first demo in September, head honcho, James Endicott, the man who discovered the Libertines and the Strokes, heard the track via their myspace/theclaynewport page and immediately offered to put it out as a single.
There's a great chance to see them when they play a free gig next week at Newport's Le Pub venue on Thursday, February 14, at 8pm.
The Clay have a rock 'n' roll alchemy in brothers Anthony Hill (guitar and vox) and Jonathan Hill (drums and vox).
The line up is completed by ace bassman Dougie Humphries.
Supporting at this St Valentine's Day gig is Newport singer/songwriter: Armstrong, whose debut album Under Blue Skies is already picking up rave reviews in the USA.
