THE third Llanhilleth Acoustic Showcase promise more musical diversions in the form of a quirky Irish trio and a headline by one band which completed a recent BBC Radio One Americana session. On Tuesday at 7.30pm, the Llanhilleth Institute hosts what promises to be another enticing musical evening.
The first part of the evening, from 7.30 until 8.30, will be taken up with an open mic session open to anyone interested in performing their own material or songs by musicians who have inspired them.
The first few evenings have included contributions from singer-songwriters and solo musicians coming from as far afield as Aberdare, Newport and Abergavenny.
In the second part of the evening, two acoustic bands will perform a set of 30 and 50 minutes respectively from 8.45pm until 10.30pm.
The headline guests will be The Ash And The Oak, a soulful four-piece roots/Americana band from Newport.
The band recently completed a session for Bethan Elfyn’s Radio One show.
They will be supported by The Sheogue who have been described as a "quirky Irish-Welsh acoustic trio giving songs by their rock band heroes a fresh and folksy Celtic twist".
