THE critically acclaimed singer and acoustic guitarist Sarah McQuaid is performing at an Islwyn Acoustic Guitar Club event at the Cross Keys Hotel on Friday, October 23 at 7.30pm.
Madrid-born, Chicago-raised, a philosophy student in Strasbourg and resident for many years in Ireland before pitching up in Penzance, McQuaid draws on many influences.
Whereas her acclaimed debut album When Two Lovers Meet was a feast of Irish music, last year's I Won't Go Home 'Til Morning is a celebration of old-time Appalachian folk.
Support comes from atmospheric south Wales nu-folkster Chris Moore Doors open at 7pm for an open mic at 7.30pm followed by the concert from 8.45pm. Tickets cost £6 (concessions £5) and will be available on the door but may be reserved by ringing the organiser on 01495 270078.
