THE Glenn Miller Orchestra brings the 1940s back to Newport when they play at The Riverfront next month.

Directed by well-known big band leader Ray McVay, the show features accomplished musicians who have worked with the orchestras of Benny Goodman, Nelson Riddle, Billy May and Frank Sinatra, to name but a few.

The orchestra will play wartime favourites In the Mood, Moonlight Serenade, American Patrol and all the old Glenn Miller favourites.

As a tribute to Miller’s USAAF Band and remembering the great concerts he gave in Europe during the Second World War, the second half of the show is performed in US uniforms.

There will be two shows on Saturday, May 15 at 3pm and 7.30pm.

Tickets are between £12.50 and £15, available from the box office on 01633 656757 or online at www.newport.gov.uk/theriverfront
