WELSH Americana singer-songwriter Christopher Rees comes to the Gwent Valleys next weekend to play at the Jubilee Bar and Events Room in Wattsville.
On Friday, May 20, Islwyn Acoustic Club welcome the Cardiff-based musician and he will perform songs from his latest album, Heart On Fire.
Written and produced entirely by Rees, the record comes after he toured with Americana greats like Steve Earle of cult television show The Wire fame.
Heavily influenced by the likes of Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley, the Llanelli-born performer released his debut album The Sweetest Ache in 2004.
In his second album Alone On A Mountain Top he swapped strings for wailing blues harp, rustic resonator slide guitar and country banjo.
The evening starts at 7.30pm with an open mic session by club members and visitors.
The concert with Rees gets under way at 8.45pm.
Tickets cost £6 (£5 for club members and students) and will be available on the door.
