OAKENDON Frances Cecilia On Saturday 26th August 2023 at the Grange University Hospital, Frances, wife of Steve, dearly loved mother of the late Simon and much loved cousin of Cherry. Now at peace. Funeral will be on Friday 6th October, Tovey Bros Private Chapel at 2.15pm followed by the interment at Christchurch Cemetery. Flowers are welcome. Donations in lieu made payable to The Donkey Sanctuary, Dogs Trust, The Woodland Trust and Macmillan Nurses may be sent c/o Tovey Bros, 9-11 Cardiff Road, Newport, NP20 2EH.

Frances was admired by her fellow Creative Writers for her determination to attend our regular meetings in spite of issues with ill health and for her talent for writing brilliant witty humorous pieces. she was a strong supporter of several animal welfare organisations and health charities, often raising funds through her clever knitting. She entertained us with her clear memories of mid-twentieth century Newport and its shops. She was an entertaining and good friend to us, and we miss her. RIP Frances. We will always remember you with a smile and treasure your stories and poems.
