THE fallen will be remembered across Gwent this weekend, with a number of Remembrance parades and services. All events listed will be held on November 11 unless otherwise stated.

Newport

A PARADE will assemble outside the front of Newport Market, Upper Dock Street, at 10.15am on Sunday, before a march from High Street, across Newport Bridge, to Clarence Place.

A service will then be held at the Cenotaph starting just before 11am.

An evening service of remembrance will also be held at Mission to Seafarers, Chapel of St Peter, Newport Docks, at 6.20pm.

The Merchant Navy parade and memorial service will be held on November 17 at 11.30am at the Seafarers’ memorial, Cardiff Road.

ROGERSTONE: The parade starts at 10.45am from the Novelis car park to St John’s Church. Wreaths will be laid in the garden of remembrance at 10.55am, where a two-minute silence will be held. The service will start at 11.05am inside the church before the parade returns back to the Novelis car park.

Blaenau Gwent

ABERTILLERY: A parade will assemble at 10.15am at the lower end of Tillery Street before making its way to the war memorial for a service at 10.45am. The Royal British Legion remembrance service will then be held at the Salvation Army Citadel, Hill Street, at around 11.15am.

LLANHILLETH: A parade will make its way from St Mark’s Church at 10.15am to the Cenotaph at Llanhilleth Institute for a service which will start at 10.45am.

BOURNVILLE: A service will be held in the community hall at 3pm, followed by the laying of wreaths at the war memorial.

SWFFRYD: An evening remembrance service will be held on November 10 in the community centre.

BRYNMAWR: A parade will form outside the British Legion, Beaufort Street, at 10.20am and make its way to Market Hall for a service at 11am. The laying of wreaths will take place at the war memorial at 11.40am.

CWM: A parade will leave Old Duffryn school site at 10.20am for a service at the war memorial at 10.45am.

A separate remembrance service will be held at the miners’ memorial in Cwm on November 10 at 11am.

EBBW VALE: A parade will leave Bethcar Street at 10.15am, with a service being held at the war memorial at 10.45am. An evening service will also be held in Christchurch at 6pm, in celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Ebbw Vale branch of the Royal British Legion.

RASSAU AND BEAUFORT: A parade will meet at 1.25pm in the Beaufort Ballroom and make its way to the Cenotaph for a service at around 1.55pm. An evening service will be held in Bethel Presbyterian Church at 6pm.

NANTYGLO AND BLAINA: The parade will assemble at Garn Road, Nantyglo, at 2.10pm and make its way to the war memorial for a service at 2.45pm. A salute will later take place outside the former Nantyglo and Blaina town council offices.

TREDEGAR: A service will be held at St George’s Church, Church Street, at 10am, followed by a parade to the war memorial for the laying of wreaths at 11am.

Caerphilly

BLACKWOOD: A service will be held at Market Square on November 9 at 11am. There will also be a service at the war memorial, Pentwyn Avenue, on Sunday at 11am.

PONTLLANFRAITH: A service will be held at the council offices on November 10 at 1.30pm CEFN FFOREST: A service will be held at the war memorial on Sunday at 11am.

NEWBRIDGE: The Newbridge branch of the Royal British Legion will hold a memorial service on November 10 at the Cenotaph at St Fagan’s museum at 11am. A coach will leave from the police station bus stop at 9am.

A parade will assemble at Parry Square, Newbridge, on Sunday at 9.15am and make its way to St Paul’s Church for a service at 10am.

The parade will then make its way to the war memorial for 11am.

ABERCARN: St Luke’s Church at 10.15am, before the congregation moves on to the cenotaph at Market Square.

Torfaen

CWMBRAN: A parade will assemble at Clomendy Road at 10.15am and make its way to Cocker Avenue Park for a service. At 11.15am the parade will head to St Gabriel’s Church.

PONTNEWYDD: A parade will leave the Royal British Legion club, Station Road, at 10.30am for a service at the Cenotaph.

PONTNEWYNYDD: Service and wreath-laying ceremony at St Cadoc’s Church, Trevethin, 10.45am PANTEG: A service will be held at St Hilda’s Church at 10.30am, followed by the laying of wreaths at Panteg Cemetery at 11.45am.

PONTYPOOL: A service will be held at Crane Street Baptist Church at 10.30am and a mass will take place at St Albans RC Church, George Street, at 11am.

A parade will assemble on Commercial Street at 11.45am and make its way to the memorial gates for the laying of wreaths at 12pm.

TREVETHIN: A service will be held at St Cadoc’s Church at 10.45am.

BLAENAVON: A parade will leave the top car park at 10.40am and march to the cenotaph for the laying of wreaths and a service at St Peter’s Church.

NEW INN: A parade will assemble at St Mary’s Church Hall, The Highway, at 10am, and move to St Mary’s Church for a service at 10.30am, before wreath-laying at the church hall at 11.20am.

ABERSYCHAN: A service will take place at the stone commemorating the Blenheim Bomber crash in 1940 on Garn Wen above Abersychan at 11am.

HENLLYS: A 3pm service at Henllys village hall.

Monmouthshire

MONMOUTH: Parade will leave Castle Square at 10.40am for a service at St James’ Square.

A further service will then be held at the Priory Church of St Mary the Virgin.

CHEPSTOW: The Bream Silver Band will lead the parade from Welsh Street, through the Town Arch and down the High Street. On arrival at the cenotaph the parade will stop for the laying of the wreaths at around 10.20am.

CALDICOT: Parade at Jubilee Way car park at 10.15am to St Mary’s Church.

Sunset Remembrance Celtic Cross at 4pm.

USK: Royal British Legion Club at 2.30pm for parade to St Mary’s Church.

ABERGAVENNY: A wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the town hall in Cross Street at 10.15am, with a service at the cenotaph outside Tesco before the two minutes silence.
