A HEAVILY pregnant Newport woman escaped serious injury after a house brick was thrown through her bedroom window in the early hours of the morning.
The brick broke both panes of a double-glazed window, landing on Nicole Reynolds’ bed, with glass showering everywhere, including over a moses basket on the floor, awaiting the new arrival.
By sheer luck, 34-weeks pregnant Ms Reynolds had got up to get a glass of water, when the incident happened at 5am on Sunday.
The 22-year-old lives with dad Steve andmumSuzanne and thinks the brick was probably thrown by a drunk on their way home from a night out in town. Her bedroom is on the ground floor.
As they live at the end of a terrace on Aston Crescent, Brynglas, the family believe whoever threw the brick just picked it up and aimed at the first property they came to.
Mr Reynolds said: “I heard Nicole scream and rushed out.
“It was just lucky she had got up to get a glass of water as the brick was on her bed and the moses basket was full of glass.”
He got in his car and drove around trying to find the culprit, to no avail.
Mr Reynolds is now hoping someone may have seen something. He added: “It must have been thrown with some force as it broke both panes and landed on Nicole’s bed, which is on the other side of the room.”
The window is currently boarded up, waiting to be repaired at a cost of £230.
Gwent Police said officers were still waiting to speak to the Reynolds family about what happened.
