THE FORMER home where three generations of the same family died in a fire will be demolished.

Bron Afon Housing Association sent letters out last week (FEB 1) informing residents of Tillsland, Coed Eva, that contractors will be working on the house, number 15, to demolish it.

The contractors will start work today on the property and are expected to complete the works in three weeks.

Kim Buckley, 46, her daughter Kayleigh, 17, and Kayleigh's six-month-old baby, Kimberley all died when fire ripped through their home on September 18 last year.

Around 30 firefighters tackled the blaze in the early hours, which remained taped off by police while investigations were carried out.

Floral tributes and teddy bears continued to be laid at the scene over the following few days.

Around 800 people gathered at St Gabriel's Church, Cwmbran, for the funeral of the family on October 25.

Bron Afon's head of community housing, Liz Evans, said: "We have kept in contact with local residents and made sure staff have been available to answer any questions."

After finding out our contractors had a date to start this work we immediately got a letter ready to let people know. Our staff will also be in the area if anyone wants to talk about what is happening."

Security guards will continue to be in attendance at the site 24 hours a day.

* Carl Anthony Mills, 28, pleaded not guilty to three charges of murder when he appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on January 11.

He is being remanded in custody and is now due to stand trial on June 24.
