A MILITARY re-enactment was held in Tredegar yesterday.
Bedwellty House and Park hosted the re-enactment drill of the 23rd Royal Welch Fusiliers, an infantry regiment of the British army which was founded in 1689.
The drill was organised by the Blaenau Gwent Chartist and Historical Society, which aims to promote the history and heritage of the county borough in an entertaining way. Ivor Beynon, secretary for the group said these events provided an alternative research method which allows them to “celebrate and have fun.”
“We want to educate and celebrate our history and our heritage and bring it alive now,” he said.
“The fact we can dress up puts a whole new dimension to it.
“We are trying to look at what has been done before and put a 21st century spin on it. Our best days have not gone, we are looking positively forward towards our future.”
