THE Manic Street Preachers will kick off their UK tour at the Newport Centre on September 13.
Blackwood’s finest will appear at the venue for the first time since September 2010, three days before releasing their 11th studio album Rewind The Film.
The announcement comes days after the rugby fans finished a mini-tour of Australia to coincide with the British and Irish Lions tour, in which they were joined on stage in Sydney by Wales centre and budding guitarist Jamie Roberts.
James Dean Bradfield, Nicky Wire and Sean Moore have spent the last year recording Rewind The Film at Rockfield Studios, Monmouth, and in Cardiff and it includes a collaboration with singer-songrwriter Richard Hawley.
It is their first album since Postcards From A Young Man was released in September 2010.
After that came out, bassist Nicky Wire, who lives in Newport, said the band intended to take a break and “disappear for quite a long time”.
A 38-track greatest hits called National Treasures came out a year after and after two years of quiet, the band are set to return.
Tickets for all their gigs go on sale on Friday through Ticketmaster on 08448586765.
