OVERNIGHT on Monday into Tuesday, South Wales Fire and Rescue received 62 999 calls, 12 were for deliberately set grass fires. Seven of these were in the Newport area.
South Wales Fire and Rescue warned people to make sure they fully extinguish camp fires before leaving.
They also urged caution to those having a barbecue on open ground.
