WORLD famous Arctic Circle chef, Magnus Nilsson, is heading up this year’s line up of culinary talent at the Abergavenny Food Festival.
Some of the world’s best chefs will be at this year’s festival being held from the September 19-22.
Highlights include top Welsh chef Bryn Williams, Scandinavian Signe Johansen and British chef Rick Stein.
Magnus Nilsson, aged 30, is currently the chef of renowned restaurant Fäviken, which opened in 2008.
The restaurant, which only has 12 seats, is near to the Arctic Circle, in the north of Sweden, in quite possibly one of the most remote, and coldest, locations for any restaurant in the world.
However, Nilsson’s menu of locally sourced ingredients offers an unique dining experience; his dinner-only menu has made the restaurant one of the most innovative in the world.
Anyone wishing to visit has to book months in advance to taste what has been called ‘stunning New Nordic cuisine’ dishes.
Festival co-founder and programming director Martin Orbach, said: “Magnus Nilsson will be giving a talk on Saturday at 2pm. He’s such an upcoming chef, articulate and a very dynamic man. It should be very interesting.”
“He will not be cooking as there would not be the resources he needs, the ingredients he uses are all locally sourced and foraged.
“He will be talking to the TV chef Valentine Warner, who knows Magnus, and has been filming in Scandinavia, basically giving an introduction and explaining what Fäviken is all about.”
One of the events leading up to the weekend will be Padstow chef Rick Stein at the Borough Theatre on Friday evening talking about his memoir ‘Under a Mackerel Sky’.
Another highlight is the ‘A Taste of Sunshine’ masterclass, with MasterChef 2012 winner Shelina Permaloo, who will be cooking vegetarian dishes.
There will also be tutored tastings with chefs, wine and ale experts such as Master Chocolatier Marc Demarquette, Scott Davies and Jeff Evans.

Varied staffing opportunities PEOPLE are needed to help out with jobs including stewarding and crowd control at this year’s Abergavenny Food Festival.
The food festival, which takes place on September 21 and 22, employs temporary staff in paid positions in the run up to and over the weekend (September 16 to 23). Positions to be filled include general stewarding, box office attendants, venue assistants, kitchen assistants, hospitality assistants, parking monitors, gate stewards, waiting staff, recycling attendants, site assistants and crowd control assistants.

Applicants should be over 16, although consideration may be given to those aged 15 for some roles.
The closing date for applications is August 25 and successful applicants will be notified by September 6.
