WE'VE seen the Military Wives choir sing their way to number one - now meet Chepstow's version who are a firm hit with locals.
Wives and girlfriends of 1 Rifles servicemen have come together to hit the right notes at the town's army base.
While their national counterparts have wowed with the track 'Sing', accompanied by Gary Barlow of Take That fame, the Beachley Military Wives choir have only taken to the stage twice.
Most recently the 14 members were on stage for the Rotary group's concert at Chepstow Castle.
Within its historic walls, the audience was treated to renditions of 'Sing', 'You Raise Me Up' and 'This Little Light of Mine' on July 3.
"There is some challenging things about being an army wife but there are some nice things like the choir," said its founder Jo Cates, 34.
Her husband Sam, 34, a major with the battalion, is often away, so it gives the mum of two something to focus on, she said.
"I have met lots of wives I wouldn't otherwise have got to know. The main reason we do it (singing), it's just a way of getting out of the house and thinking about something other than the kids. It gives us a sense of unity."
