A NEWPORT student will perform in a new production by award-winning youth theatre The Company this summer.
A-Level student Alex McDonagh, 17, of Bassaleg, will star in a production of the Broadway hit ‘How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying’ at the Lowry in Salford Quays on August 8 - 10.
Alex, part of theatre group WAWWA, plans to audition to study musical theatre.
He worked with ‘The Company’ last summer in their production of Into The Woods and wanted to be part of the group again.
Alex will play the role of TV Announcer in the production, that adopts a musical and satirical look at cut-throat corporate life and office politics.
Recently seen on Broadway starring Daniel Radcliffe, this Tony and Pulitzer prize-winning show is based on the book by Abe Burrows.
How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying chronicles the meteoric rise of J Pierrepont Finch, a young but bright window-cleaner who buys a book and soars up the corporate ladder all by following its instructions but there are obstacles along the way.
Alex said: “After doing Into the Woods last year I knew that I had to audition again for How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
“It is an honour to work with such a brilliant creative team as well perform with the most talented bunch of individuals I have ever met.”
