A CHOIR from Argentina has joined with Gwent singers as part of a UK tour.
The College Gospel Choir, from St George’s College in Buenos Aires province, began their tour on July 4.
They arrived in Wales on July 7 and were treated to some of the country’s attractions, including Big Pit in Blaenavon.
They held a concert in Havelock Street Church in Newport on Tuesday, singing with the Chantorion Sanctaidd group before enjoying fish and chips and a ceilidh.
Tom Wall, who helped organise the Welsh leg of the tour, said: “They had a fabulous time. They loved it.”
Last night they gave a concert at the Choir Hall with the Caldicot Male Voice Choir and the Wyedean School Band.
Following the performance they enjoyed a traditional roast dinner at the Toby Carvery.
The choir is of mixed age and ability, with an emphasis on singing for enjoyment.
No audition is necessary to join.
Songs in the repertoire for the tour include People Get Ready, Lean on Me, The Reason Why We Sing and Better You, Better Me, as well as Argentine songs.
They will travel to Swansea today to continue their tour of the UK.
St George’s is a British styled school in Argentina which opened in 1898.
