A NEWPORT boy is “heartbroken” after his bike was stolen on his birthday.
Rhys Davis, who goes to Maesglas Primary School, had been riding his silver BMX around Tredegar Park with his older brother David to celebrate turning nine on Tuesday.
As he and his brother arrived back home late after dropping their friends back at home, they left the bike in the front garden to get inside and go to bed.
But when Rhys woke up in the morning, he realised his bike was gone from the Bideford Road garden in Maesglas. Now mum Lindy Davis, 43, is appealing for the thieves to have a prick of conscience and bring the bike back.
The BMX Anaconda was given to him as a Christmas present in 2011 and cost £150.
Mrs Davis said: “If anyone’s got any conscience - if they could bring it back and leave it outside.
“No-one’s going to say anything. It’s so upsetting for a kid. He blames himself”.
She is willing to come and pick up the bike if someone believes they may have seen it. A spokesman for Gwent Police said the theft happened between 8.45pm on July 9 and 7.15am on July 10.
