POLICE have pledged to continue to clamp down on the supply of drugs in the Ringland area of Newport.
Officers reaffirmed their commitment to tackling the problem following this month’s police and communities together (PACT) meeting for the area.
Officers said that over the past three months they have been busy acting on information received from the public about drug dealing.
Action taken has included carrying out two drugs warrants at Hendre Farm Drive where a small amount of cannabis was confiscated and three people were arrested.
Police have been stopping and searching people in the area too and three people had drugs confiscated.
This action has been supported by education sessions such as the Drugs Awareness session at the Ringland Community Association, hosted by Barnardo’s, which the force has also been supporting.
A police spokesman said: “We will continue to target drug dealers and will work with the community, acting on all information that we receive.
“If you have any information, please get in touch by calling us on 101. You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
