A CWMBRAN greyhound sparked a full blown gas scare when she jumped on the cooker inside their home in Cwmbran.
The dog's 38-year-old owner was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport yesterday after his dog accidentally turned on the gas cooker.
The man was taken to hospital at around 7am, but was released later that morning.
Neighbour Rachel Evans, 38, of The Courtlands, Greenmeadow, said: “We wondered what had happened.”
Firefighters wearing breathing masks gave him oxygen. A South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called at 6.35am and a pump from Cwmbran attended at The Courtlands, Greenmeadow.
“The gas on the cooker was turned on by the dog. The occupant received first aid from the fire service including oxygen before the arrival of the ambulance.
“We made a final check of the property on the gas reading, which was negative.”
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called at 6.49am on Tuesday to reports of a gas leak at a property. We sent an emergency ambulance to the scene, and a male in his thirties with inhalation of fumes was taken to hospital.”
