A SELFLESS act of generosity by a Chepstow man was played out to millions on TV earlier today.

Dan Black, 25, paralysed by a cycling accident in 2009, gave more than £22,000 to Mathern youngster Brecon Vaughan to help him walk.

The pair, with Brecon's parents, appeared on This Morning where they were greeted by presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.

Viewers heard how five-year-old Brecon needs pioneering surgery in the US for his spastic diplegia cerebral palsy, which aims to get him walking.

The Argus' sister paper The Free Press launched a campaign to raise £60,000 to make this happen.

Subsequent publicity nationally and across the world saw the target smashed in just a few weeks.

Mr Holmes asked wheelchair-bound Mr Black about his decision to donate £22,000 to little Brecon, who live near each other.

It was money raised by friends, family and the local community to help fund Mr Black's stem cell treatment to get him back on his feet.

Mr Black said: "I had already walked for 22 years and had the chance to play football with my friends and Brecon can't."

He added: "I don't think it was that big a deal (donating), because for me it was the right thing to do."

Brecon's dad Rob Vaughan, 44, said Dan deserves a Pride of Britain award, which he has been nominated for.

"If anyone deserves one of those you do," Mr Holmes told Dan."I wish there was more people in the world like you."

Mr Black and little Brecon were given presents by Ms Langsford.

The little boy received a touchscreen tablet while Dan will be heading for a tour of the Formula One Red Bull factory in Northamptonshire.
