RAPPERS from Goldie Lookin’ Chain helped out a Newport teen when they declared his business officially open, by cutting not a ribbon but a goldie lookin’ chain.
St Julians High School pupil Farhan Hussain, 18, is now taking on a new challenge in the city centre with his Hellotek shop in Skinner Street.
The new business is a spin-off from Hello Hello, the established business of Mr Hussain’s father Shahbaz Hussain. The father and son team will recycle mobile phones, sell accessories and repair mobile phones and computers.
Rhys Hutchings and Eggsy from the comedic rap group opened the store at 10.30am yesterday.
Mr Hutchings, who is also a city councillor for St Julians ward, said: “We are all Newport boys and we love our home town. The city centre is going through, shall we say, a transitional period at the moment so it’s great to see a business expanding here.”
Farhan Hussain, who will be continuing his studies part time in the autumn, said: “I have worked with my father for a while now and the new shop will help us expand the business.”
His father Shahbaz Hussain added: “It has been difficult keeping going in the city centre but I have worked hard at this business.
Farhan knows what he is doing and together we know we can make a success.”
